Santa Barbara

DSC00241.JPGThis weekend, my girlfriend and I drove up the coast to Santa Barbara. We stayed at the very comfortable El Encanto Hotel, which had a well-tended garden and a fantastic view of the ocean from the cliffs above the city.

Arbor near the lily pond, at the El Encanto Hotel, in Santa Barbara. It had just rained, and the arbor dripped.
Garden on the El Encanto grounds.
The gardens were very lush at the hotel. Santa Barbara itself had many horticultural centers.
The lily pond at the hotel. It was sunny when Elizabeth and I explored the grounds, but everything had been pleasantly cleaned by the recent rain.

It was a clear but windy day, when we explored the downtown and beach areas.

The Santa Barbara courthouse was an interesting Spanish-Moorish building. More gardens could be seen inside.

We had an excellent dinner at the hotel restaurant. This was an opportunity to get dressed up and play at high society.

Whaaah? Girlfriend? But, you've told me nothing about this... (Well, actually Elizabeth has.)

Looks like a good trip. I never seem to do any new things during my trips to Santa Barbara, yet it always proves to be a relaxing getaway from the city.

I'm back in town for a few weeks after several travels. I'll try to catch up with you two soon!

Beautifull pictures!!! Looks like the two of you had a fantastic time.

Looks like a great time. Love to hear more about it!

What great pictures! I'm so happy for both of you!

Living the dream in california.....

I envy your weather and ocean. We have like 6" of snow on the grass. Your pictures are of something.
Happiness?

Nice pictures but so what. It will be spring here in another month or so.

I left California why??? Great pictures, Jeff!

You and Elizabeth had a wonderful trip. I lived in Santa Barbara for 20 years and, at one time, was a photography hobbiest. The quality of your photography is so good that it broke my heart that you didn't stand across Anacapa Street and shoot the Clock Tower and its Arch, showing the Santa Ynez foothills through the tunnel. Somwhere in my stuff I have several slides of that view, but congrats on your close-up of the inscription! btw can't help but wonder what your profession is! :) good luck to you.
